About The Artisan Bakery
More? The Artisan Bakery is a bakery with a café and shop in Staveley Mill Yard near Kendal, founded in 2006 by Lake District chef Patrick Moore. It bakes artisan breads, patisserie and seasonal desserts and has won Great Taste awards, including a Supreme Champion title. Bread is taken seriously here, with naturally leavened loaves a highlight. Regulars tend to come back for artisan bread, patisserie, seasonal desserts and cakes.
The Artisan Bakery has not published regular opening hours in the sources we use, so it is worth calling ahead or checking social media before a special trip. At its most recent food hygiene inspection on 17 June 2025, Westmorland and Furness gave the business a rating of 5 out of 5 – the highest mark on the scale.
Staveley station sits around 0.2 mi away – allow 6 minutes if you walk. With no other bakery on our map within 3 km, it serves a wide local area. It is about 3.7 mi from the centre of Windermere.
